Interests and limits of transcranial and peripheral magnetic stimulation

Abstract Summary
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a safe non-invasive technique employed to investigate motor cortical or corticospinal functions. Magnetic stimulation can also be used for peripheral nerve (PMS) in order to assess muscle function. This presentation will briefly review the interest of using TMS/PMS with EMG or force measurements to examine the plasticity of neuromuscular function. In particular, the role of TMS in assessing the central component of fatigue and the main limitations of this technique will be discussed.
