Abstract Summary
In this study, a novel method for in vivo finger motion measurement was proposed. A six degree of freedom electromagnetic tracking system was used to prevent line of sight constraints. A novel landmark digitization method was used that provided accessible landmarks for in vivo use. The study involved an in vivo participant trial (n=1). ¶ It was found that it is reasonable to measure both anatomically relevant flexion/extension and varus/valgus motion of the fingers involved in pinch and precision tasks (thumb, index, and middle finger). Internal/external rotation could not be measured with the current setup.
