Effect of a 12-week gait retraining intervention on impact force and joint biomechanics in runners

Abstract Summary
The purpose of this study to explore the effect of a 12-week gait retraining program with the minimalist shoes on impact force and lower limb biomechanics. We found that the 12-week gait retraining program with minimalist shoe could effectively convert the rearfoot strike runners who used to wear cushioned shoes into forefoot strike pattern and retraining may reduce the risk of impact-related injury.
