Performance of qct-derived scapula finite element models in predicting local displacements using digital volume correlation

Abstract Summary
The current work encompassed the development of a multi-directional CT-compatible mechanical testing device and quantified the accuracy of full-field displacements predicted by QCT-FEMs of the scapula. Digital volume correlation (DVC) was used to derive full-field experimental displacement measurements of deformed cadaveric specimens. Accuracy of the QCT-FEMs was found to be highly sensitive to the assigned boundary conditions; however, close agreement with experimental results was achieved with DVC-derived boundary conditions.
