Sensitivity of tibial anterior shear force to the force in the gastrocnemius during dvj

Abstract Summary
Muscle and knee forces were estimated for a female athlete performing a drop vertical jump (DVJ) to quantify tibial anterior shear force (ASF) during landing. The contribution of the gastrocnemius muscle to peak ASF was assessed. The gastrocnemius wrapping around the posterior aspect of the tibia contributes to ASF during landing, which might increase the risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
