Abstract Summary
Hip-related pain can frequently affect young athletic individuals, including football players. To date, no studies have investigated hip biomechanics during running in football players with hip-related pain. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate sagittal and frontal plane hip kinematics and kinetics during overground running in male football players with and without hip-related pain. The results for 10 symptomatic male football players and 10 healthy controls were reported. Male footballers with hip related pain demonstrated a significantly smaller peak external hip abduction moment during early stance phase. This pilot data warrants further analysis of hip joint kinetics during stance and indicates the need for further large-scale cross-sectional studies investigating sporting tasks in football players.
