Abstract Summary
The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between kinematic compensations during the single-leg squat (SLS) and stride knee kinematics during the baseball pitch in adolescent baseball pitchers. A secondary purpose was to determine whether the SLS may be used as a lower extremity screening tool for pitching mechanics. Post-hoc analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed a significant association between knee valgus during the SLS and stride knee valgus at stride foot contact (SFC) and ball release (BR). The SLS shows promise as a screening tool for stride knee mechanics during the pitching in adolescent baseball pitchers.
