Effect of mechanical noise vibration on proprioception in anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed patients

Abstract Summary
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury has been shown to compromise joint position sense (JPS) in the knee, which is necessary for controlling joint positioning and movement. This study showed that mechanical noise vibration (MNV) improved JPS in the ACL reconstructed (ACLR) patients at 6 months after surgery. Since deficient JPS might be related to ACL re-injury risk, this finding provides initial evidence to use MNV as an additional tool to enhance knee JPS early post-surgery and provides a foundation for future studies on the role of MNV on ACL re-injury in the ACLR population.
