The interaction of cognitive interference, standing surface, and fatigue on lower extremity muscle activity

Abstract Summary
This study demonstrated that increasing cognitive load and inducing lower extremity muscular fatigue increases muscle activity despite the standing surface. Softening the shoe-surface interface does not seem to be an adequate means of reducing muscular exertion after a fatiguing workload, especially when engaged in a cognitive task.
