Hip torques in the transverse plane during the side walk exercise with elastic resistance

Abstract Summary
In this study, hip torques in the transverse plane were analysed during the side-walk exercise with elastic resistance. Besides showing that the resistance offered by the elastic band does not seem to agree with commonly set goals of hip rehabilitation, our results show that torque outputs and and the effect of elastic band resistance are highly dependent on whether the elastic is place at thigh or shank height: Side walk with elastic resistance is associated to a great magnitude of work production to hip internal rotators and may not be beneficial to hip muscle balance in the transverse plane.
