The stabilizing function of the collateral ligaments of the ankle revealed through a validated subject-specific, three-dimensional computational model

This abstract has open access
Abstract Summary
Most frequent ligament injuries at the lower limb occur at the ankle and, despite the numerous studies, controversies still exist regarding their stabilizing function. Furthermore, the functions of some ligaments are still unknown because of access difficulties. Therefore, the aim of this study was to use multiple validated 3-Dimensional subject-specific models to investigate the stabilizing function of the ligaments of the Ankle Joint Complex (AJC).
