Abstract Summary
For femur fracture, patients’ fracture is treated through osteosynthesis using a femur fracture fixation plate and screws. Since screws in surgery are directly fixed in the bone, however, local damage tends to occur in the bone. As screw holes remain in removing the screws after synostosis, there is a risk of the occurrence of the secondary fracture. As a solution to overcome the limitations of the surgery method using screws, some clinical cases are reported, in which a fracture region is treated using a femur fracture fixation plate made of shape memory alloy without screw holes in the bone [1][2]. However, there have been no reports from the biomechanical perspective, concerning the contact pressure by the shape recovery of the femur fracture fixation plate made of shape memory alloy.
