A patient-specific knee prosthesis design with normal knee joint kinematic: from preclinical testing to additive manufacturing

Abstract Summary
Current researches related to patient-specific knee prosthesis designs are mainly mimicked the anatomical structure of femoral condyle, but the kinematics and the long-term performance are still questionable. What’s more, since the end-stage knee osteoarthritis patients are usually associated with large bone deformation and wear, the CT based anatomical data would not be adapted to those patients. In this paper, the major objective was to develop an implementable workflow for designing and process the knee prosthesis from design to manufacturing in consideration of both the patient-specific anatomical structure and biomechanics characteristics.
