Fibril-reinforced poroviscoelastic modelling of anterior cruciate ligament

This abstract has open access
Abstract Summary
A fibril-reinforced poroviscoelastic material model was introduced to model anterior cruciate ligament stress-relaxation behaviour in tension. The proposed model with an exponential fibril formulation was able to capture the stress-relaxation response at physiological strain levels. It provides insight on the roles of different constituents on the mechanical behaviour of ligaments and could be applied in whole knee joint models.
