Principal component regression for 6-axis kinetics in the cadaveric model of clinical relevant anterior cruciate ligament injury

Abstract Summary
Knee kinetics were measured in a cadaveric simulation of drop landing, in which clinically-relevant anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries were obtained. A principal component analysis (PCA) was performed on the knee kinetics to identify the most relevant parameters linked to injury. The findings indicated that lateral and anterior shear forces on the tibia at impact with the ground contributed to ACL tear. Lateral force may tilt the ACL to a non-anatomical orientation and increase the risk of rupture at the femoral side while an anterior shear force is present.
