The comparison of standing posture sway between pre and post the lower legs bathing

Abstract Summary
This study aimed to look for the effect on posture control function of leg immersion prior to standstill standing position in healthy young Japanese female (n=12). Postural sway was evaluated by means of tracing fluctuation of COP (center of pressure) in pre and post lower legs-bathing with tap-water or CO2-water (35°C). COP fluctuations became significantly smaller by lower legs-bathing. The results suggest that local water immersion might modify a somato-sensory input to control the postural stability.
