A pilot study on the variation of the kinematics of horses in forward and backward overground walking in western riding

This abstract has open access
Abstract Summary
In Western riding competitions horses have to walk backward. Therefore, they change its gait pattern, which is clearly visible in the kinematics of the lower limb. This might have some ef-fects on the damping function of the pastern at the lower limbs.
