Joint coordination of lower limb amputees during gait: preliminary results

Abstract Summary
The study presents the preliminary result of a semi-qualitative analysis of lower limb joint angle coordination during gait in a lower limb amputee’s population. The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the kinematic joint coordination between LLA and healthy individuals (and their possible links with ground reaction force and spatio-temporal gait parameters). The traumatic trans-tibial amputee and respiratory trans-tibial amputee coordination is consistent with a reduction of the stance phase for ALL (60%) and an augmentation for the ILL (69 %), respectively. The respiratory trans-tibial amputee and control individuals have the closest pattern but different horizontal ground reaction force. Our fist results shows that lower limb joint coordination seems to have potential to help to understand gait in lower limb amputee’s population.
