Relationship between hip abductor muscle composition and patient-reported pain in individuals with hip osteoarthritis

This abstract has open access
Abstract Summary
This study investigated the relationship between muscle composition and patient-reported pain in individuals with and without symptomatic or radiographic hip osteoarthritis (OA). Fatty infiltration of the hip abductor muscles was quantified and related to HOOS pain scores. Increased fatty infiltration of the gluteus medius was found to be associated with greater hip joint pain.
