Sex differences in force steadiness

Abstract Summary
Previous reports suggest males have greater force steadiness compared to females [1]. This study showed females had greater variability in motor unit discharge rate and reduced force steadiness compared to males. The sex differences may be due to inherent biomechanical differences in tendon compliance or muscle architecture, leading to compensation strategies in females motor unit behaviour that reduced force steadiness.
