Abstract Summary
Knee valgus angles and moments during unanticipated motions have been previously identified as factors of anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL). Prophylactic knee braces are knee braces that are designed to mitigate this and reduce the risk of injury. To determine the effectiveness of these braces, subjects were unanticipatedly perturbed during walking with and without the braces. Peak knee valgus angles were decreased in braced conditions.
