The effect of tuning ankle foot orthoses-footwear combinations on the gait kinematics of children with cerebral palsy: a case series

This abstract has open access
Abstract Summary
This study provides a case series of five children with CP, examining the effect of tuned and non-tuned AFO-footwear combinations (AFO-FCs) on their gait. Walking with a tuned AFO-FC was found to produce improvements in several key gait parameters. However, the type of gait pattern demonstrated by the participant affected the outcome of tuning on their gait. Currently, it is not known which gait pathologies are most effectively improved with AFO-FC tuning.
