Kinematic changes associated with anterior cruciate ligament deficiency using the finite helical axis

Abstract Summary
Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) leads to complex knee joint translation and rotation differences that are theorized to contribute to the development of post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA). The finite helical axis (FHA) is a powerful approach to describe post-traumatic alterations in knee joint mechanics. Using high-speed biplanar video-radiography (HSBV) and FHA approaches, this study identified distinct differences in FHA parameters between individuals who are ACL deficient (ACLD) and those that are ACL intact.
