Predicting degenerative osteoarthritis of a hip joint using neural network

This abstract has open access
Abstract Summary
Aims of this study is to classify degenerative osteoarthritis patients by logistic regression and neural network techniques using only 3-axis (medial-lateral, anterior-posterior, vertical) GRF (ground reaction force) and to develop an algorithm for predicting degenerative osteoarthritis. This test was conducted with 20 patients (5 males and 15 females) and 12 healthy nonpatients (3 males and 9 females). The accuracy of the classification reached 92.2% using a neural network method. This classifier can help to build a system that predict degenerative osteoarthritis of hip joint by just using ground reaction force.
